Reading difficulty and intellectual depth are two separate dials. A young child can meet a genuinely interesting idea in simple language. A strong older reader can explore a sophisticated subject without being handed a novel.

They choose a subject they genuinely care about and get an interesting reading pitched at their level — as a clean article, or split into sections with diagrams that explain what they just read.
Built for parents
No child account
Children don't need their own general-purpose AI account. You own access, you manage the profiles, and you authorize each device from your own phone.
Evidence, not grades
Parents see what was read, for how long, and how it felt. Children see a gentle reading streak and can choose an optional 3-question challenge — but there are no grades, leaderboards or competitive rankings anywhere.
ReadBop is meant to support reading and curiosity — not to replace real books.
Questions parents ask
- Why wouldn't I just ask ChatGPT or Gemini to make reading material?
- You can, and plenty of parents do. The difference is that ReadBop is built around the child rather than the prompt. It keeps a reading stage and a difficulty level per child, adjusts length from how they actually read, keeps the child inside a safe screen with no general-purpose chatbot, offers reading support on any word, remembers what they were interested in, and shows you what happened afterwards. You don't write prompts, check outputs for the child, or hand your account back and forth.
- Does ReadBop replace books?
- No, and it isn't trying to. The point is confidence, curiosity and reading stamina, so that real books feel easier and more attractive to pick up.
- Is this a beta?
- Yes. ReadBop is being tested with a small number of families and things will change while we improve it.
- Does my child need their own AI account?
- No. Children never sign in to a general-purpose AI tool. You create each reader under your own account, and the child only ever sees the reading screen.
- Are there streaks, scores or rewards?
- There is a quiet reading streak — one completed reading on a day keeps it going — and an optional 3-question challenge after a reading. Streak milestones unlock cosmetic reading themes only. No points, coins, leagues, leaderboards or notifications, and nothing about streaks or challenges changes the reading level a child is given.
- How does this work on a child's iPad, and do I have to stay signed in on it?
- No. You authorize the child's device from your own phone: the iPad shows a short code, you approve it from your account, and the device gets a reader-only session. It can read and nothing else — no parent settings, no account details, no other family's data. You can see authorized devices and revoke any of them at any time.
About the beta
ReadBop is free during beta while we test and improve it with families. A paid subscription is planned for the full service. We'll always tell you before anything changes — no automatic charges.
